Year 2040 Long Range Transportation Plan

The federal government requires metro areas with a population greater than 50,000 update their long range transportation plan every 5 years. This process in well underway in Olmsted County and is being coordinated by the Rochester-Olmsted Council of Governments (ROCOG) which is staffed by the Rochester-Olmsted Planning Department.

This plan will cover long range system plans (5 to 30 years) for three modes of transportation including:

  • Highways, county roads and major streets
  • Transit, paratransit, and rail
  • Bike trails and walkways

The internet site showing plan update materials can be found here.

A public meeting open house will be held on Monday, 9 November from 4:30pm to 6:30pm. Maps, graphics, and planning staff will be available to answer any questions.

This is a great opportunity to speak with planners and see if there are projects related to transportation scheduled for your neighborhood. We encourage everyone to be informed of plans as they relate to our highways, county roads, major city streets, transit, paratransit, rail, and most importantly our bike trails and walkways.
