Getting ready for “back to school” is a time of purchases - clothing, school supplies, backpacks, and school lunch boxes.

For years I struggled with school lunches. I knew that my method of packing disposable drink boxes, sandwiches packed in plastic baggies, and individually packed chips was wasteful, but I could not think of a solution that would reduce waste while still maintaining some control over what went into my children’s lunch.

A year ago I found the bento box solution. Bento boxes are a lunch box with reusable containers. These lunchbox solutions reduce the need for sandwich baggies. I did not purchase any sandwich bags in the my one year of using the bento boxes! The lunch boxes can be fun to use for children and adults. It is possible to become creative in choosing meals to pack for school lunches: sandwiches, wraps, pizza, and rolls all fit easily.

These lunch boxes are not just for children. These are easy for adults to use and minimize those disposable take-out bags and wrappers!
